Copyright Policy

Texas Triffid RanchThe Texas Triffid Ranch offers both online and print information of all sorts, and this information is generally offered freely for the benefit of both customers and passersby.  However, there's a difference between information and content, and all content on this site is © 2008 Texas Triffid Ranch unless specifically stated otherwise.  This means while the information included on Web pages, Plant Care Sheets, issues of the Hell's Half-Acre Herald, and any other source produced by the Triffid Ranch may be passed on and used as users see fit, the actual arrangement of words and images is copyrighted.  This means that those arrangements of words and images, or portions thereof, can't be reproduced without permission.  Thankfully for those seeking reference material, it's easy to ask for permission, and we're usually very open to assisting those seeking reproduction rights for educational purposes.

Now, you may ask why the whole site isn't listed under Creative Commons?  Well, besides the fact that Cory Doctorow is a dork who might be able to talk about something other than open-source literature one of these years, the old joke has it that "the difference between a Creative Commons writer and a pizza is that a pizza can feed a family of four."  While we're glad to share information with both botanical enthusiasts and interested bystanders, we'd prefer to keep control of copyrighted material for use in future projects.  Information may want to be free, at least according to people who want everyone else's information to be free while theirs is sold dear, but bills also want to be paid.  And so it goes.
